Recipe
Ingredients
  • 6 wholehot dogs
  • 8 ozcrescent roll dough(one tube or dough sheet)
  • 12 wholecandy eyeballs
  • 1 tbspketchup(or mustard, to attach the eyes)
Make Ahead

Baked mummies keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in the oven or air fryer. Unbaked wrapped dogs can be flash-frozen for about an hour, stored for about 2 months, and baked from frozen with extra time.

Instructions
  1. 1Heat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. 2Unroll the crescent dough and cut it into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide.
  3. 3Wrap the strips around each hot dog, crisscrossing them like bandages and leaving a small gap near one end for the face.
  4. 4Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until the dough is golden.
  5. 5Dab a little ketchup in the gap and press on two candy eyes. Serve warm.
Notes
History & Origin

Crescent-wrapped mummy dogs are one of the most familiar Halloween party snacks, and Pillsbury publishes its own Crescent Mummy Dogs recipe on its brand site. This version follows Eating on a Dime, the most-rated mummy hot dog recipe found, with thin dough strips and candy eyes; House of Nash Eats, The Wooden Skillet and Food Network make the same build.
