The Bomb Pop Jello Shot recreates the Bomb Pop popsicle — the red, white, and blue patriotic frozen treat created by Bob Lemon and James Merritt of Kansas City in 1955 and first produced for the US military — in layered jello shot form. The three-layer structure, using strawberry, lime, and berry-blue gelatin poured sequentially with vodka in each layer, recreates the popsicle's distinctive patriotic color scheme. Each layer must be fully set before the next is added, making this a multi-day project that rewards patience with a visually spectacular result. The Bomb Pop's association with Fourth of July, summer picnics, and patriotic celebration made this layered jello shot a popular Independence Day party offering throughout the 2000s and 2010s.
