πŸ“œ History

Created around 2010 by acclaimed bartender Ivy Mix while working at Lani Kai in Manhattan. The drink later became a signature at Leyenda, the Latin spirits-focused bar she co-owns in Brooklyn. The name playfully swaps the vowels of "Mai Tai," reflecting how the drink reimagines the classic by splitting the rum base with mezcal. Mix wanted to showcase how mezcal's smokiness could work beautifully in tropical cocktails.
