History & Origin

The Cinderella mocktail is an original creation designed as a standalone non-alcoholic cocktail rather than a spirit-removed version of an existing drink, making it a genuine mocktail rather than a "virgin" variation. Its name references the fairy tale character Cinderella, who transforms from domestic worker to princess through magic intervention — suggesting the drink transforms simple juice ingredients into something special. The combination typically includes pineapple juice, orange juice, lemon juice, and ginger ale or soda water, creating a layered tropical flavor that has its own character and appeal without requiring alcohol to be interesting. The Cinderella has appeared in non-alcoholic cocktail guides since at least the mid-20th century, predating the contemporary mocktail movement that gained commercial momentum in the 2010s.
