The Cookie Monster Shot is a novelty party shooter named for the beloved blue Muppet character from Sesame Street — the American public television children's series produced by the Children's Television Workshop (now Sesame Workshop) that premiered on PBS on November 10, 1969. Cookie Monster, one of the show's original principal Muppets, was performed by Frank Oz from the show's debut and became one of the most internationally recognized children's television characters of the 20th century, famous for his ravenous enthusiasm for cookies and his catchphrase ME WANT COOKIE. The combination of Blue Curaçao — the standard orange-flavored liqueur dyed with artificial blue colorant — with Baileys Irish Cream and cream produces a shot of vivid blue-and-white coloring intended to evoke Cookie Monster's distinctive bright blue fur, making the visual presentation rather than the flavor the primary selling point.
