Harry Craddock published the Corpse Reviver #2 in his 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book, part of a family of "corpse reviver" hangover cures. Craddock famously warned that "four of these taken in swift succession will unrevive the corpse again." The drink combines gin with Kina Lillet (now Lillet Blanc), Cointreau, fresh lemon, and an absinthe rinse that adds subtle anise complexity. The #2 became the most famous of the corpse revivers, largely forgotten until the craft cocktail revival rediscovered it. Today it's celebrated as one of the great gin cocktails—refreshing, complex, and perfectly balanced despite its seemingly disparate ingredients.
