The Honey Badger Shot is a modern party shooter combining whiskey with honey-flavored whiskey or honey liqueur, taking its name from the Honey Badger Don't Care internet video phenomenon of 2011. The video — a narration by a user named Randall over National Geographic footage of a honey badger, posted to YouTube in January 2011 — became one of the most viral internet videos of the early social media era, generating tens of millions of views and spawning the catchphrase honey badger don't care as a cultural shorthand for fearless indifference to consequences. Wild Turkey American Honey, launched by Wild Turkey Distillery in 2006, and Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur, produced in Germany by the Waldhausen distillery, are the most commonly used honey-spirit bases for the shot. Honey-flavored whiskey became a significant commercial category from the mid-2000s onward: Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey (launched 2011), Jim Beam Honey (launched 2012), and Evan Williams Honey (launched 2013) each entered the market within two years of each other, creating a honey whiskey category whose combined sales made honey one of the most commercially important whiskey flavoring directions of the decade.
