📜 History
The Daisy is one of the oldest cocktail templates in the bartender's canon, appearing in pre-Prohibition guides as a combination of spirit, citrus, orange liqueur, and a splash of soda. Crucially, the Margarita itself derives directly from the Tequila Daisy, as "margarita" is Spanish for daisy. The mezcal daisy follows the same logic, applying the timeless Daisy formula to mezcal while retaining the structure that made its tequila descendant one of the world's most popular cocktails. The drink appears in craft cocktail programs focused on agave spirits and in Oaxacan-inspired bar menus, where it serves as a drier, more spirit-forward alternative to the Margarita.
