Ingredients
- 1½ ozvanilla vodka
- ½ ozpassoa passion fruit liqueur
- 1 ozpassion fruit puree
- ½ ozfresh lime juice
- ½ ozvanilla syrup
- 2 ozchampagne(served on the side)
- 🍋half passion fruit(garnish)
Instructions
- Add ice and shake vigorously.
- Alternate sips between the cocktail and Champagne.
- Combine vodka and Passoa and passion fruit puree and lime juice and vanilla syrup in a shaker.
- Double strain into a coupe glass.
- Float half a passion fruit on top.
- Serve with a shot glass of chilled Champagne on the side.
📜 History
Douglas Ankrah created the Pornstar Martini at Townhouse bar in Knightsbridge, London in 2002. Originally called the Maverick Martini after a Cape Town strip club that inspired him, Ankrah chose the provocative new name because he imagined it as "something a porn star would drink—pure indulgence, sexy, fun and evocative." The cocktail combines vanilla vodka, passion fruit purée, and Passoã liqueur, served with a shot of Champagne on the side. This theatrical presentation—plus the irresistible sweet-tart passion fruit flavor—helped it become the UK's most-ordered cocktail by 2018. The Champagne sidecar was intended as a palate cleanser, best sipped alternately with the main drink. When the cocktail spread to LAB bar in Soho (which Ankrah co-owned), it became a phenomenon that launched countless variations worldwide.
