📜 History
The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club cocktail takes its name from one of the world's oldest yacht clubs, founded in Hamilton, Bermuda in 1844. The drink first appeared in print in Crosby Gaige's 1941 "Cocktail Guide & Ladies' Companion," where he credits writer Mary Mabon with introducing him to this "lovely thing" at the club itself. Trader Vic later popularized the recipe by substituting falernum for simple syrup, adding Caribbean spice notes that transformed a simple rum sour into something more exotic. Despite associations with tiki culture through its use of falernum, this cocktail remains distinctly refined—bright, balanced, and befitting its aristocratic Bermudian origins.
