Crown Royal, created by Samuel Bronfman of the Seagram's company in 1939 to honor King George VI and Queen Elizabeth's Royal Tour of Canada, was packaged in the distinctive purple velvet bag that became its commercial signature and drove its premium positioning in the American market.
