History & Origin

The Batida de Limão is the citrus entry in Brazil's beloved batida family — shaken drinks that combine cachaça with fruit juice and, often, sweetened condensed milk. While the Caipirinha presents lime and cachaça as a muddled, rustic combination, the lime batida refines the relationship: freshly squeezed lime juice is shaken into a smooth, creamy cocktail with condensed milk providing body and sweetness. The result is altogether more delicate than the Caipirinha but equally dependent on the freshness of the lime. It has been made alongside the other batida flavors in Brazilian bars and homes for generations.
