📜 History
The Gimlet is a classic two-ingredient cocktail of gin and lime cordial, named after Surgeon General Sir Thomas Desmond Gimlette who reportedly introduced lime juice to Royal Navy sailors' gin rations to prevent scurvy. The botanical spirit gimlet emerged as bartenders began working with Seedlip Garden 108, whose herbal and savory botanical profile pairs naturally with fresh citrus in the same way gin does. PUNCH Magazine featured beverage directors recommending Garden 108 for Gimlet-style builds, noting that the botanical spirit's herbal complexity is well suited to the format. The Botanical Gimlet has since become one of the most popular serves across the zero-proof spirit category.
