Butterfinger Shot

Butterscotch schnapps, coffee liqueur, and Irish cream shaken into a dessert shooter named for the Butterfinger bar, usually rimmed with chocolate and crushed candy.

The Butterfinger Shot is a dessert shooter named for the Butterfinger candy bar - a crisp, flaky peanut-butter core in a chocolatey coating, introduced in 1923 by Otto Schnering's Curtiss Candy Company near Chicago, whose name was chosen through a public contest. The brand changed hands repeatedly: Standard Brands bought Curtiss in 1964, the line passed through Nabisco and RJR Nabisco, Nestle acquired Butterfinger in 1990, and Ferrero (through its Ferrara Candy Company) bought it in 2018. The shot does not try to reproduce the bar literally; it uses butterscotch schnapps for caramel sweetness, coffee liqueur for a roasted, cocoa-like depth, and Irish cream for dairy richness, with the peanut-and-chocolate association carried mainly by a chocolate-syrup rim dipped in crushed Butterfinger. Candy-bar shooters like this became a recognised strand of American bar dessert culture through the 2000s and 2010s.
