History & Origin

The Coconut Lime Cooler draws inspiration from the flavors of the Caribbean and Southeast Asia, where coconut and lime are fundamental to culinary identity across dozens of cultures. Coconut palms have been cultivated in tropical coastal regions of both the Pacific and Indian Oceans for thousands of years — their coconut water, coconut cream, and dried flesh serving as ingredients across Thai, Filipino, Indian, Caribbean, and Brazilian cuisines simultaneously. Lime's cultivation in Southeast Asia stretches back at least 3,000 years, and the fruit spread westward through Arab trade routes before Spanish colonizers introduced it to the Americas. The combination of coconut water or coconut cream with fresh lime juice and soda water creates a drink that is simultaneously tropical and refreshing, balancing fat richness with citrus brightness in a way that requires no alcohol to be satisfying.
