The Duck Fart is a layered shot that became a specifically Alaskan regional specialty, combining Kahlúa coffee liqueur, Baileys Irish Cream, and Crown Royal Canadian whisky in three distinct density-separated layers. The drink is deeply embedded in Juneau's bar culture — the Alaska state capital, accessible only by air or sea, which has a particularly strong bar culture given its isolated, small-city character — and has been documented as a local drinking institution at Juneau establishments for decades. Crown Royal Canadian whisky, produced at the Crown Royal distillery in Gimli, Manitoba by Diageo, was created in 1939 by Seagram's as a gift for the Royal Tour of Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, making it one of the few spirits specifically created in honor of a royal visit. The layering technique requires the specific density gradient of Kahlúa (densest), Baileys (intermediate), and Crown Royal (lightest), poured in sequence over the back of a bar spoon. The provocative name follows the American novelty shot naming tradition — alongside the Blow Job, Slippery Nipple, and similar drinks — where taboo humor drives memorable ordering experiences.
