Ingredients
- 1½ ozIrish whiskey
- 4 ozhot coffee(fresh brewed)
- ½ ozsimple syrup(or brown sugar)
- 1½ ozheavy cream(lightly whipped)
- 🍋floating cream(garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat an Irish coffee glass with hot water then empty.
- Add sugar and Irish whiskey.
- Fill with hot coffee leaving room at top.
- Stir to dissolve sugar.
- Float lightly whipped cream on top by pouring gently over back of spoon.
- Serve immediately without stirring - drink coffee through the cream.
📜 History
IBA Official Cocktail. Created in 1943 by chef Joe Sheridan at Foynes airbase in Ireland to warm American passengers on Pan Am flying boats. Brought to America by travel writer Stanton Delaplane who introduced it to the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco in 1952.
