The Pickleback originated at the Bushwick Country Club in Brooklyn around 2006. Bartender Reggie Cunningham served it to a Southern customer who requested whiskey with pickle juice. The briny chaser cuts the burn of whiskey and has since become a beloved ritual in dive bars across America.
