Ingredients

  • 0.75 ozrye whiskey
  • 0.75 ozcognac
  • 0.75 ozsweet vermouth
  • 1 barspoonBenedictine
  • 1 dashangostura bitters
  • 1 dashpeychaud's bitters
  • 🍋lemon twist(garnish)

Instructions

  1. Add rye and cognac and vermouth and Benedictine and both bitters to a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Garnish with a lemon twist.
  3. Stir for about 30 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.

The Vieux Carré was created at the Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar in New Orleans. It draws on golden age techniques and is named for the French Quarter.
