Ingredients

  • ¾ ozrye whiskey
  • ¾ ozcognac
  • ¾ ozsweet vermouth
  • 1 barspoonbenedictine
  • 1 dashangostura bitters
  • 1 dashpeychaud's bitters
  • 🍋lemon twist(garnish)

Instructions

  1. Add rye whiskey, cognac, sweet vermouth, Bénédictine, and both bitters to a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Stir for about 30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.
  3. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.
  4. Garnish with a lemon twist.

The Vieux Carré was created at the Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar in New Orleans. It draws on golden age techniques and is named for the French Quarter.
