History & Origin

The Batida is one of Brazil's oldest cocktail traditions, with the name derived from the Portuguese word for "shaken." Batidas are made by combining cachaça with fresh fruit juice or pulp, often with sweetened condensed milk for richness, and blending or shaking with ice. The pineapple version — Batida de Abacaxi — is one of the most popular, beloved for its tropical sweetness and the way the condensed milk rounds out the natural acidity of the pineapple. The drink has been a fixture on Brazilian beaches, poolside bars, and home celebrations for generations.
