History & Origin

The Negroni — equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth, stirred over ice with an orange peel — is one of the world's most recognized aperitif cocktails. Seedlip pioneered the "NOgroni" format shortly after launching in 2015, demonstrating that the category's botanical distillates, specifically Seedlip Spice 94, could anchor a zero-proof version of the stirred classic. Professional bartenders at venues including the Dandelyan bar in London featured NOgroni-style builds on their menus, helping legitimize the botanical spirit format in high-end cocktail culture. The Botanical NOgroni uses pomegranate juice for fruity depth and color in place of sweet vermouth, with tonic water supplying bitter structure.
