📜 History
The Mojito traces its roots to Cuba, where it has been made with rum, lime, sugar, mint, and soda since at least the 19th century. Because cachaça — like rum — is a sugarcane-based spirit, it slots naturally into the Mojito template while giving the drink a distinctly Brazilian character. Unaged cachaça's grassy, fresh-cane notes echo the herbal quality of the mint, creating a more complex interplay than the rum version. The Cachaça Mojito became popular in Brazilian bars as bartenders explored international templates using their native spirit.
