📜 History
The original Mudslide was born in the 1970s at the Wreck Bar in Rum Point Club on Grand Cayman Island, where a bartender substituted Irish cream for the cream in a White Russian after running low on stock. As the drink evolved, bartenders began blending it with vanilla ice cream to create the frozen version, which became enormously popular at casual dining chains through the 1980s and 1990s. The Frozen Mudslide captured the imagination of guests who wanted something halfway between a cocktail and a milkshake — rich, cold, and indulgent. It remains a staple of beach bars and birthday celebrations alike, and frequently ranks among the most searched blended cocktail recipes.
