History & Origin

The Peanut Butter Chocolate Pudding Shot is a dessert shooter combining peanut butter-flavored spirit with chocolate pudding mix and cream, replicating in liquid gelatin form the flavor of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups — the milk chocolate and peanut butter confection created by Harry Burnett Reese in 1928 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Reese had worked at Hershey's dairy farms before establishing his own candy business, initially selling his peanut butter cups in multi-packs. After Reese's death in 1956 the company was sold to Hershey, which has produced the candy since. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups have been one of the best-selling American candies for decades, consistently ranking first or second in Halloween candy sales. The peanut butter whiskey category that drives the modern version of this shot grew substantially from 2018 when Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, created by Brittany and Steven Yeng in San Diego, California, launched commercially and achieved approximately one million cases in sales within its first full year — a remarkable debut that demonstrated the commercial appetite for flavored whiskey innovations.
