📜 History
The Moscow Mule was created in 1941 when a vodka distributor, a ginger beer producer, and a copper mug manufacturer found themselves with excess inventory and a mutual problem. The resulting cocktail launched countless variations, with spirits ranging from bourbon to tequila taking vodka's place. The mezcal mule emerged alongside mezcal's craft cocktail rise in the 2010s, and the pineapple addition became popular in Mexican and Oaxacan restaurant bars, where the combination was said to taste like tepache, a traditional Mexican fermented pineapple drink. The version gained wide traction through social media in the early 2020s.
