Ranch Water is a three-ingredient Texas cocktail traditionally made with blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, and Topo Chico sparkling mineral water. Its origins are rooted in West Texas, where cattle ranchers are said to have mixed the simple combination to cool off after long days outdoors. Austin's Ranch 616 restaurant is frequently cited as one of the first commercial venues to serve the drink, beginning in the late 1990s. The cocktail's reputation spread nationally through the 2010s and it became a fixture of Texas bar culture. This zero-proof version swaps a non-alcoholic agave spirit alternative for the tequila, preserving the earthy agave character and bright citrus finish that define the original. As premium NA agave spirits became widely available in craft bars from 2023 onwards, the Ranch Water mocktail gained popularity as a naturally low-calorie, alcohol-free alternative for sober-curious drinkers.
