📜 History
The White Russian dates to the late 1940s and became a staple of mid-century bar culture, reaching renewed popularity after its prominent appearance in the 1998 film The Big Lebowski. The Chocolate Russian is a variation developed by Mozart Distillerie in Salzburg, Austria, and featured on the official Mozart Chocolate Liqueur recipe platform. The brand's Chocolate Cream Liqueur, made with Belgian chocolate and fresh cream, replaces the plain cream of the classic recipe and pairs with coffee liqueur to create a drink that leans into chocolate rather than simply adding it. The Manual featured the recipe in its coverage of Mozart cocktails in October 2025.
