The Freddy Fudpucker is attributed to Donato "Duke" Antone, the Hartford, Connecticut bartender also credited with the Harvey Wallbanger in the 1960s. It swaps the Wallbanger's vodka for tequila, giving the drink a Mexican-Californian flair that made it popular across Texas and the Southwest. The first confirmed print reference appears in the Charleston Gazette in 1973. Like its cousin, it relies on Galliano floated on top rather than mixed in, creating a visually striking golden layer.
