Lillet Blanc is a French aromatized wine produced in Podensac, Bordeaux, by the Lillet house founded in 1872 by brothers Paul and Raymond Lillet. Made from a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes fortified with citrus liqueurs and aged in oak barrels, it has been produced continuously since the 19th century. The Lillet Spritz emerged as the aperitivo culture expanded beyond Italy into France and across Europe in the 2020s, applying the Italian spritz ratio — fortified wine, sparkling wine, and soda — to the distinctly French Lillet. Its lighter, more floral profile makes it a popular alternative to the Aperol Spritz for those who prefer less bitterness and more delicacy.
